Mountain Improvements

The Gore Mountain experience just keeps getting better!

New for Winter 18-19

It's the Biggest Year for Snowmaking Since We Tapped the Hudson River!

A major overhaul to our snowmaking system for Winter 18-19 has us set up to deliver you the snowiest season ever at Gore.  A new pump house was constructed and new pipe installed to increase our water pumping capacity by 42%, allowing us to open more trails earlier in the season and expand terrain faster than ever before.  312 brand-new automated guns equipped with the latest snowmaking technologies have been installed on key trails which allow our crews to work smarter, faster, and more efficiently!  These guns can be controlled remotely or manually, and respond to real-time weather changes to optimize their output.  85 other new tower, portable, fan, and Phazer (for the Nordic trails) snow guns have been dispersed throughout the mountain.

A Two-Story Base Lodge Addition!

We've built a large two-level addition to the Base Lodge that has doubled the size of the Tannery Pub & Restaurant, which also received a complete renovation and expanded kitchen.  With this newly added space, the Tannery seats up to 435 people and offers year-round facilities for banquets, weddings, and conferences.  The lower level addition now houses the brand-new headquarters for the popular Season-Long Mountain Adventure programs for kids, and more seasonal lockers!

Two More Grooming Machines!

We welcomed two more cats to our arsenal, for an even stronger grooming fleet this winter.  We're looking forward to turning all of this great new snow into your best corduroy mornings.

A Trail Improvement You'll Smile About!

Remember that unfavorable hump that awaited you at the bottom of Cloud/Ruby Run?  Time to forget it!  Our crews happily said goodbye to some bedrock in order to make your entry into the Saddle area so much smoother.

New Electric Car Charging Stations!

Coming soon- charge your car as you re-charge on the mountain.   For this winter, we’re excited to offer six new ChargePoint stations that will be located in Lot C.  Thanks to drivers of electric cars for your commitment to renewable energy and environmental sustainability!

A Freshly Paved Welcome Area!

The resort entrance and walkways are dressed up with a fresh coat of blacktop- the Base Area looks great and we can't wait to see you!

Last Season's Improvements

Winter 17-18 unveiled a brand-new mid-mountain experience at the Saddle Lodge.  The size of the space more than doubled, and occupancy increased from 100 people to 238.  Between runs, treat yourself to a food court style meal, and dine in front of a spectacular showcase of the Adirondack High Peaks.  Updates to the Saddle Lodge included an attractively styled vernacular, an expanded and updated kitchen to serve a more creative menu, new bathrooms, and an approachable façade and lobby area upon entry.

Meanwhile, the adventurous guests of Gore Mountain’s summit have a new place to warm up and chill out at the Straight Brook Lodge.  A complete renovation of the original 1967 gondola unloading station kept the original structure and most of the lift machinery intact while facilitating the basics of shelter, restrooms, and a place for socializing and camaraderie between skiers.  Inside there is a warming room with tables and benches, vending machines, and eco-friendly composting toilets.

A 17-18 addition to the Northwoods Lodge offers a larger rental and repair shop!  There is also more space for the children’s Mountain Adventure programs, and improved arrival and registration processes.  Larger restrooms on the lower level include a "family restroom" to better accommodate parents with young children.

To get guests to and from these new amenities more conveniently, a new parking lot (Lot G) was constructed in Summer 2017, accommodating approximately 190 cars, to reduce shuttle traffic, time, and fuel, and vehicle parking along the access road.

Only two of the eleven trails in Gore Mountain's Nordic network at the North Creek Ski Bowl require natural snow. These trails were widened for Winter 17/18 so that the entire trail system can be consistently groomed.

Gore also saw its largest glade cleanup ever in Summer 2017- our crew cleared out all 28 glades.  Freestylers- be sure to check out "The Trench" our newest glade addition and the second at Gore to offer natural features throughout!

Other Updates

Gore was recently presented with the esteemed Golden Eagle Award for Overall Environmental Excellence. These awards are overseen by a partnership between SKI Magazine and National Ski Areas Association and are the industry’s most prestigious honor for recognizing resort environmental programs and projects.  Gore's award-winning sustainability efforts are led by 25-year solar energy power purchasing agreements. We've constructed 14,589 ground-mounted solar panels on 20 acres; those panels started producing energy in 2016 and offset most of Gore's energy needs.  Gore also continued its long-term investment in high-efficiency snowmaking by converting some of our snowmaking pumps to operate on variable rather than fixed drives.  Several other environmental initiatives contributing to Gore's achievement include increased service of locally produced foods, strategic trail modifications that conserve energy, and redevelopment of the historic North Creek Ski Bowl with "recycled" trails and earthen freestyle features, among other environmentally-friendly enhancements that guests can see, enjoy, and learn about each day!

Gore offers the most terrain in NYS and 2537’ vertical.  We are committed to improvements that always make our 42 miles and 439 acres of fun a better experience.  Here’s a small sample of what you’ll find at Gore:

  • An 8-passenger high-speed gondola, servicing every level of terrain, including the easier-rated “Ruby Run” Trail
  • Seven individual mountain areas, each independently offering their own mountain adventure
  • Four lodges with recently renovated space- Base Lodge offers ticketing, seating & lockers, and four dining options; Northwoods Lodge conveniently centralizes rentals, ticketing, children's programs, Guest Services, and group sales; the mid-mountain Saddle Lodge features full-service and food court style dining; and Straight Brook Lodge at Gore's summit offers the most adventurous guests a brand-new place to warm up and socialize!
  • A snowmaking system linked to the endless water supply of the Hudson River
  • Eight freestyle areas, offering unique experiences for the beginner, intermediate, and expert freestyler
  • 28 different glades providing extensive backcountry excitement
  • ”The Rumor,” arguably the steepest trail in the East

Gore is always making your next day better. We work all year to improve amenities, enhance services, and add to your experience both on and off the snow. Here's how it's done.
