Our popular staff-led interpretive hikes depart from the top of the gondola at 11am and 1pm- learn about the region's history, ecology, and scenic views in a group walk. Or, try one of our more challenging self-guided routes. Carl Heilman's annual photo workshop and our downhill mountain biking camp are both happening this Saturday- join us!
Welcome September with a scenic ride aboard the Northwoods Gondola- the entire family will love it! Cooler temperatures are setting in and the fall colors are starting to pop. On the way up, relax and enjoy 360 degrees of panoramic beauty. Breathtaking views from our observation deck are a few easy steps away from the unloading area. Interpretive walks are offered 11am or 1pm both days, or explore a self-guided route to the summit or the Twister Cliffs. Our gondola also services challenging downhill mountain biking terrain.
The snowmaking news is huge- we are adding 312 new guns and increasing our water pumping capacity by 2,000 gallons per minute! A new pump house, new pipe, and the best automation technologies in the industry mean tons more snow for you to have fun on this season. We've also added two more grooming tractors to the fleet, paved the entrance and walkways in the Base Area, and are busy with a two-level expansion to the Base Lodge that will double the size of the Tannery Pub! Just getting into downhill mountain biking or looking to advance your skill level? Join us this Saturday for a skills development camp offering cross-country and downhill mountain biking instruction for beginner and intermediate riders, ages 10 & up. Enjoy the thrills and excitement of biking down and around the mountain, while learning to ride with more control, climb more efficiently, and descend with more confidence.

Major snowmaking improvements- a new pump house and pipe will increase our water pumping capacity by 42%, and new automations will help our crews make snow faster, smarter, and more efficiently. Meanwhile, an expansion to the Tannery Pub & Restaurant will double the size of this fully-renovated facility!
