After a terrific Opening Weekend, we look forward to welcoming you back for the start of our daily operations on Friday, November 24!  Both downhill and cross-country skiing terrain will be open.  Until then, have a fun and safe Thanksgiving and know our snowmakers are working around the clock as weather allows to bring you more trails for Friday.  Guns are going on beginner terrain, Foxlair, Wild Air, Ruby Run, and Nordic loops at the North Creek Ski Bowl.  Give the gift of Gore this holiday season- we have gift cards available in any denomination that never expire, 4-packs of transferable tickets for easy giving, and frequent skier cards for every member of the family.

Special Notes

Early Season Schedule: CLOSED Monday-Thursday, 11/20-24.  OPEN DAILY FOR THE SEASON: 11/24/17.

We are excited about extensive renovations to three of our lodges!  The size of the Saddle Lodge has doubled and more dining will be available there this winter.  Meanwhile, the original 1967 gondola unloading station at Gore's summit has been transformed into the new Straight Brook Lodge- it's beautiful.  We're also expanding the rental shop, children's program center, and restrooms of the Northwoods Lodge.

Mountain Bike Skills Development Camp

Bike Class

Enjoy the thrills and excitement of biking down and around the mountain, through wooded trails, over rocks, logs and stream beds. Learn to ride with more control, climb more efficiently, and descend with more confidence. Our skills development clinics offer cross-country and downhill mountain biking instruction for beginner and intermediate riders, ages 10 & up. All-day and 1/2 day options available!

Join us for the all-day clinic- gondola access is included with an option for lunch to be provided. Or choose the half-day clinic and join us for the morning session, 9am-12:30pm. You'll work on

  • riding through a slalom course
  • riding over rocks, roots, and logs
  • putting your bike into a controlled skid
  • effective braking
  • positioning, balance, and techniques for climbing and riding downhill, as well as cornering and making tight turns
  • learning bike safety practices

A look at the day's agenda...

9:00am Register at the Mid Lodge ticket desk. Kick off your day in our agility park improving your bike handling skills.

10:00am You're off to ride the cross-country trails at the North Creek Ski Bowl.

12:30pm Morning session ends. All-day participants break for lunch- bring your own, or select the option to include lunch and yours will be provided.

1:00pm Back at it for more riding on the Ski Bowl trails.

1:45pm Ready for a challenge? We'll take you and your bike up the gondola from Gore's base area to the summit of Bear Mountain to ride our more advanced downhill terrain, or continue practicing on the Ski Bowl's cross-country trails.

3:30pm Camp ends- thanks for joining us. Enjoy your new skill set!

What to bring and wear...

  • Mountain bike: In good repair, preferably with full suspension. Front fork suspension is required, and 'hard-tail' (no rear suspension) is acceptable.
  • Helmet! Everyone must wear a helmet. Make sure your helmet fits properly, and the chinstrap is snug.
  • Bring plenty of Water stored in a bottle or hydration pack. You may want to bring Snacks with you for breaks on the mountain.
  • Clothing: Mountain bike shorts preferred. Avoid loose pants that may get caught in bike chain. T-shirt or long sleeved shirt, pending weather. Light jacket may be needed pending temperatures. You'll get warm quickly when riding the trails!
  • Footwear: Biking shoes or supportive trail shoes or sneakers with good tread are recommended.
  • Biking gloves are recommended- padding or gel in key areas of the palm make gripping the handlebars more comfortable and reduce risk of blisters.
