Surprise number 4: The Straight Brook Lodge
Up at 3,600 feet the stagnant 1967 gondola unloading station is breathing life again. No longer is the building waiting to relive the glory days, but now is a the best new hangout while you're out having an epic snow day.. The Straight Brook Lodge is a friendly place to warm up and offers restrooms, vending machines, and warm drink dispensers. Soak up the sun on the new deck located directly under the historic gondola lift; the machinery is intertwined within the structure. The designers did this in homage to history – many of you no doubt cherish memories of riding the gondola in your youth. The Straight Brook Lodge has much of the original structure intact, and the ceiling and floor have been restored.

Gore has been steadily modernizing its snowmaking infrastructure over the last several years, and this year136 new guns equipped with the latest energy-saving technology are hard at work. More guns, improved efficiency of the pump house, and updated snow distribution methods all contribute to snow being made more quickly this winter.
Surprise number 6: Nordic Trail Improvements
Our upper wooded trails D and E (check out the map!) have been widened to facilitate even better grooming. The expert C trail has been rerouted through the woods to create a better flow within our trail system, and terrain improvements have also made for an even nicer beginner experience. Surprise number 7: Solar Energy
Gore Mountain has the largest solar array dedicated to a ski area in the United States. Its massive 5.325 MW system is poised to be offset 85% of Gore's energy needs. Gore Mountain is efficiently harvesting sunlight, utilizing 14,589 ground-mounted solar panels across 20 acres of otherwise fallow farmland. The electricity generated credits Gore's meter at a rate higher than power that is traditionally produced, while providing a cleaner, more sustainable source of energy to its electric distribution zone. The agreement is projected to save Gore Mountain approximately $10 million over the life of the contract, while offsetting 113,919 tons of carbon dioxide, 71,634 pounds of nitrogen oxide emissions, and 131,835 pounds of sulfur. Gore's purchase agreement received support from Governor Cuomo's NY-Sun incentive through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
Surprise number 8: The Northwoods Lodge
An ample addition to the Northwoods Lodge now means extra space for the rental and repair shop, better bathrooms, more room for the popular children's Mountain Adventure programs, and a better arrival and registration process. Gore has also upgraded its rental and demo equipment fleets.
Surprise number 9: New Parking Lot G
Arrival just got easier with the completion of new 190-car "G" parking lot. Located at the top of the access road, this extra parking will help Gore's shuttles get you to and from the Base Area faster (while saving fuel), so you can experience all of Gore's fantastic new amenities!
